Why Learn Mathematics?
There is a difference between mathematics and arithmetic. Studying math is not only about being able to quickly calculate the sum or product of something. Learning math is about dveloping logical thinking and problem-solving skills. In Math you learn how to take a big problem and simplify it into smaller ones that are easier to solve. You learn to think through a process logically and to see the relationships between objects and systems.
Math is Beautiful
Math can also be used as a structure to define all things in our world. Geometry, Symmetry, Repetition, Pattern, Ratio, Rythm: these ideas are fundamental to both Math and Art. An understanding of structure allows us to appreciate the beauty in all things around us.
